Mesotherapy

This non-surgical technique is a safe and effective way to treat a variety of medical and cosmetic conditions. Through the superficial injection of medications, vitamins, minerals, and amino acids, many common conditions can be treated without subjecting a patient to the systemic effects of potentially harmful medications or more aggressive cosmetic procedures.

Dr. Edwards received training in mesotherapy in Paris, France, from physicians who were integral in developing this unique treatment. This is a safe and effective alternative when performed under the appropriate clinical conditions by a properly trained health care provider.

The following conditions may be effectively treated with mesotherapy:

  • Cellulite
  • Localized fat deposits
  • Hair loss
  • Musculoskeletal pain
  • Face and neck rejuvenation (fine lines, wrinkles, etc.)

When used for cosmetic purposes, mesotherapy is not a covered service. However, for patients who utilize mesotherapy in the treatment of medical indications, such as the treatment of musculoskeletal pain or hair loss, it is typically a covered service.

Since this technique involves superficial injections with a very small needle (4-6 mm in length), patients with an aversion to needles may not be amenable to this procedure. A patient's complete medical history, medications, allergies, and other important information is always reviewed by Dr. Edwards before she decides if a patient is an appropriate candidate for treatment. As is true of many other medical treatments, results of this treatment may vary based upon a patient's unique lifestyle and body chemistry.
